So, sometimes I just suck…

I was working on the new book yesterday and…
… I should preface this by saying I had a fever. I was sick. I’m feeling a bit better now.
Anyway, I was trying to get my writing down, trying to get down another 1,000 words of the new book. After I’d finished, I went back to read it…
And it sucked.
I read it again today…
And it sucked.
And this is what I said to myself, “Don’t worry. You’ll catch it in the rewrites and you’ll make it work.” These are good words if you’re a writer and worth remembering.
This being my first non-fiction (non-memoir) book, I find myself having to learn to go easy on myself, to accept myself. I’m not always good at what I do. Sometimes, I suck.
But the brilliant thing about being a writer is, I can fix that. I can change things so they don’t suck.
And that’s okay.
